Blæc Scucca 2024-2025
Blæc Scucca is a series of prints based around the East Anglian folk legend of the Black Shuck, a hellhound the size of a horse with fur as black as night, a devastating force of mystical nature. For these images I re-contextualised the idea of the beast as not only a destructive force but as a mother figure, she is a hound, hounds are pack animals, I thought about how she roams a specific part of the English countryside, we are her pack and she watches over us. In a similar vein she is a symbol of death but death doesn’t always mean dying, it means change. The Black Shuck is a symbol of change and growth.
