Is This a Joke?
Is This a Joke? Is the culmination of my 4 year BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. Forming groups of up to 10 we created mini-exhibitions within the CSM building. Is This a Joke? Pushes for accessibility of art and places humour in the work to allow audiences to breathe and understand the work without being forced to think too much about it.
My works specifically come from my exploration of Essex, a photo-book, an image, a sculpture and installation.
-The photo-book is a collection of all my photography work from this project, so far.
-The image is an interpretation of what God of Essex would look like, using 1920's performer photography and surrealist photography as the inspiration.
-The sculpture is a handmade and carved, found in the back of a fictional manor house in the Essex countryside, we spent countless hours restoring it to its former glory.
-Using flooring and rugs to create dynamic spaces to house my work, and the remnants of an Essex girl’s night on the town: shoes, handbags and gin bowls.
